Five University of Kentucky football commitments are included in the updated Rivals250 rankings for the Class of 2014.
They are …
No. 112 Stanley “Boom” Williams, RB, Bethlehem, Ga.
No. 131 Drew Barker, QB, Burlington, Ky. (Conner HS)
No. 148 Mikel Horton, RB, West Chester, Ohio
No. 214 Nick Richardson, OL, Westerville, Ohio
No. 217 Darius West, S, Lima, Ohio
They are all rated four-stars, as are UK commitments Blake Bone, Thaddeus Snodgrass and junior-college transfer Cory Johnson. Barker, Horton and Snodgrass are among five who have already signed scholarship paperwork to enroll in January.
UK’s class is rated No. 9 nationally by Rivals.com. That count includes 25 commitments, although one of the coaches of Florida three-star offensive lineman Derrick Kelly confirmed to The Courier-Journal on Tuesday that Kelly has reopened his recruitment and is now considering UK, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina and South Florida.
No Louisville or Indiana commitments are in the Rivals250.
Louisville’s 24-man class, which includes four-star Cincinnati safety Nilijah Ballew, is ranked No. 19 nationally. Indiana’s 14-player class is No. 61.
Barker is the only Kentuckian in the Rivals250, which does not include John Hardin defensive tackle/UK target Matt Elam. That’s a sharp contrast from 247Sports.com, which rates Elam the nation’s No. 7 prospect; however, Rivals does rate Elam four-stars.
